Grand Café de Waker, a hidden gem in Maassluis

I discovered the most lovely, warm and amazing café hidden in a small village called Maasluis! A nice walk for a Sunday!

Where is Maasluis? Did you ever hear about the Hoek of Holland? Situated on the North Sea Coast near Rotterdam, the landscape is beautiful and really typical of Holland.

A part of the long beers' list, the place is big and calm and warm, the service is kind and attentive and you feel like at home in a second. The place opened in October 2012, and the new owner, Tobias Saenen is a beer expert and perfect host!

The kitchen is opened from 11h00 till 22h00 and proposed a short but really well made menu with high quality products and homemade dishes: salads, sandwiches, soups, etc...
I chose an amazing burger with fried onions, bacon and a perfect melted cheese! Delicious!

Ollie's Appeltaart
But the best thing came after,... we had the most wonderful and delicious APPELTAART! The best Dutch apple pie I ever tried in Holland! I tried to get the recipe from the chef Ollie,... but I could not get it!
The piece is generous and includes of course apples, cinnamon and raisin,... but there is much more and I let you go there to discover it!

So it is definitely worthy to drive till Maasluis for Ollie's apple pie and Tobias´s welcoming bar! I really had a great Sunday afternoon!
