I finally went to try Hout in front of the wood of Haarlem. The place is welcoming and gezellig.
It was an idea from the Meetup group Dining out.
I was really excited to try this restaurant, but started to be a little bit bothered as they would serve us a surprise menu. We just had to say what we do not like, and the chef created the menu.
As appetizer, we had a tiny cabbage soup, really tasty and cheerful! It was brought on the table with some fresh bread and butter, was really welcoming.
The starter was a salad with fresh grilled sole fillet. The fish was really fresh and well cooked. It was really nice!
Then we had a steak with fresh veggies and Rosenval potatoes. The meat was perfectly cooked and tasty as well as really smooth! It was a delight!
The dessert was a crème brulée with a homemade vanilla ice cream. Something, too classic for me, without any tasty surprise,... besides, the ice cream was crystallized, so the texture was not that nice, even if the taste was great.
The service was efficient and pleasant, I especially appreciated the freshness of the ingredients. The big space and the localisation in front of the woods, turns it into a perfect place for a family lunch on Sunday after a walk!
